Why Coriolis Technology Delivers Maximum Accuracy

A Coriolis meter uses two vibrating tubes. Fluid passes through the tubes. The tubes twist. The phase shift gives a direct mass flow signal in kg/h. The frequency gives density in g/cm3. A PT100 sensor gives temperature in °C. One meter replaces three or four separate instruments. That reduces installation points and leak paths.

Silver Instruments Coriolis Flow Meter Range and Key Specs

Silver Instruments offers the S-CMF series in sizes from DN10 to DN250. Standard wetted parts are 316L stainless steel. Hastelloy C22 is optional for acids and seawater. Process connections include ANSI B16.5 flanges, EN 1092 flanges, tri-clamp, and threaded connections. Operating temperature range is -50 °C to +200 °C. Pressure rating is up to 100 bar depending on the flange.

The transmitter outputs 4-20 mA HART, pulse, and RS485 Modbus. ATEX Zone 1 and Zone 2 approvals are available. The housing is IP67 rated. A typical DN25 meter covers 0 to 12,000 kg/h. How to Select a Coriolis Meter for Your Process

Do not start with line size only. Start with the mass flow range in kg/h. State the normal flow, minimum flow, and maximum flow. Silver Instruments application engineers check pressure drop and tube velocity. A meter that is too large loses low flow accuracy. A meter that is too small creates high pressure drop. Most engineers skip this part. That is why we ask for all three flow values.

Next send the viscosity in cP, density in kg/m3 or g/cm3, and temperature in °C. For liquids with entrained gas above 2 percent by volume a Coriolis meter may still work but the accuracy drops. In those lines we add an air release vessel upstream. For hazardous areas
